FAQ

What does Lalla do?

She honors the wisdom of the body in an evolutionary approach to modern health care. With increased expression of your body’s innate intelligence, higher levels of self‐organization occur.  Through chiropractic and supported yoga, your symptoms can resolve and your quality of life can expand.

How does it work?

Lalla applies chiropractic philosophy, science and art to identify what is called subluxation, also known as nerve interference. Subluxation causes distortion in the tone, posture and function of the system, detectable with chiropractic examination tools which include manual palpation, visualization, and other functional assessments.

She relates with chiropractic care as a form of yoga — the connected expression of body‐mind‐spirit. In addition to the chiropractic adjustment, her sessions also introduce yoga kriyas, asana and pranayam. She draws on a range of overlapping concepts from the ancient science and art of Ayurveda, core principles of yogic philosophy, and an appreciation of modern brain science in order to support you through therapeutic yoga sessions to further empower your system to self‐heal.

What is wellness?
Our focus at Wholeness Emergent is to help you recognize the value of approaching your body’s neural integrity from a wellness foundation vs. crisis management. In other words, we encourage proactive vs. reactive care. We invite you and your loved ones to get checked regularly for subluxation to best assist your body’s expression of intelligence, instead of waiting until you are reacting to a set of unpleasant symptoms. In addition, customized yoga specifically addresses areas most in need of your personal attention and can inform your daily self‐care. Ultimately, we seek to empower you with an experience of chiropractic care and yoga, so you can choose how it best fits into your life journey, your path to well‐being, your wellness lifestyle.
What is subluxation?
Subluxation can be characterized as a distortion in the function, shape, position, tone, or tension of the spine and nerve system causing interference to the body’s ability to accurately perceive itself, respond to and adapt to both its internal and external environments. It impedes the body’s ability to self‐generate, self‐refer and self‐organize, diminishing the expression of its innate intelligence. Subluxation is a coping response to undermining or overwhelming physical, emotional, or chemical stresses or traumas. It can also be described as information that will expand your system’s self‐awareness if it can be fully integrated and utilized. It is stored adaptive potential waiting to be released and integrated. Subluxation is a chiropractic term, unknown in the vocabulary of yoga. However, yoga therapy addresses the imbalances in a person’s constitution by honoring the forces of nature and applying yogic principles to facilitate the restoration of harmony and more vibrant health. Both approaches stimulate and support a more clear expression of being for self‐healing and connection to source.
Where do subluxations come from?
Every experience in life is input to the neurological system. Inputs can be categorized as coming from physical, chemical, emotional, and mental sources. Most often our experiences combine elements from all of these. When the system is self‐aware and flexible enough to field, process and integrate the input from our experiences, then we adapt, learn, grow, and evolve in stride. Yet when life’s input in any way exceeds our system’s capacity to process this incoming information, then we distribute, store and carry this unintegrated information in the tissues of the body. This stored tension or dissonance is subluxation interference, which can accumulate enough to distort our posture, our function and our expression of life.
What is a chiropractic adjustment?
An adjustment is not a treatment, since we are not treating your symptoms. An adjustment is a specific force, or a session of applied forces, delivered to the body with the intention to release subluxation interference and facilitate a more clear expression of your body’s innate intelligence. Adjustments free up the wisdom of the body and enhance neural communication, thus increasing adaptability and clear life expression. Adjustments give your system the opportunity to release and fully integrate the information from experiences that you were unable to completely process at the time they occurred, allowing your body to self‐heal and self‐organize to higher levels of awareness and function.
What is yoga therapy?
Yoga therapy is a burgeoning field newly being recognized in healthcare, providing complementary support in the realms of both musculoskeletal and mental health. Paired with adjustments, yoga therapeutics further support the body’s self‐healing process. The postures, actions, mindfulness and breath awarenesses given to you in a supported yoga session are tools you can revisit on your own for supporting your system to further heal and more clearly self‐regulate.
How do I know if I am subluxated and need to be adjusted?
Since subluxation interference often accumulates gradually, we can be storing years or even decades of subluxation tension without perceiving a single symptom. If you are suffering or challenged with a physical concern, it is a sign that you have been living with subluxations present in your system for a long time. Chiropractic can be a non‐invasive, wholistic way to address and move through your concerns.
Is chiropractic yoga therapy a form of medical care?
You may be receiving treatment for specific symptoms or conditions through other health care modalities. Chiropractic adjustments and/or yoga therapy offer an effective complementary adjunct to assist the system to better integrate treatment interventions and reorganize to higher levels of coordinated function. We do not consider chiropractic or yoga therapy to be medical care. However, Dr. Lalla, as a licensed health care provider, can determine your “medical necessity” for receiving the care that she provides. Chiropractic care has always been distinct from medical care, even though it is part of the insurance reimbursement system. Yoga therapy continues to grow as a form of physical therapeutics and mental health support in the healthcare field, fostering well‐being on many levels. When delivered by a licensed health care professional within the context of restoring or optimizing health, it is also reimbursable.
