The Doctor
Dr. Lalla Kerr engages health and healing from a “whole being” perspective. She discovered chiropractic through yoga, the practice of uniting body, mind and spirit. As yoga integrates the core of our physical being and the seat of our consciousness, principled chiropractic offers a similar opportunity. Chiropractic philosophy, art and science shows the direct relationship between the health of the spine and nerve system and overall human health and well-being. Supporting this relationship accesses the body’s self‐healing power, supports self‐expression, and enhances our ability to live life to our fullest capacity.
She had the outstanding fortune of studying Fractal Biology directly with Dr. Bruce Lipton, pioneering in the fields of New Biology, Epigenetics and Psychoneuroimmunology, while earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Graduating with honors from Life Chiropractic College West, she spent an academic year on faculty at her alma mater, teaching in the technique department.
After a decade of creating and independently running Thrive Chiropractic in Eugene, Oregon, Dr. Lalla now lives and serves clients in the Portland area. Her care provides an integrative adjunct for people receiving medical attention of all kinds and also supplies a full‐being approach for those who are primarily guided outside of conventional medicine. Many who have plateaued on their healing journeys with other modalities find results with her intuitively guided approach, as she delivers care from a progressive neuro‐integrational perspective. She specializes in a full-body, light force application of chiropractic adjustments, releasing stored tension through the body’s tensegrity system, enhancing posture, biomechanics, neural coordination and personal self‐expression. In addition to chiropractic adjustments, she supports and empowers clients with personalized yoga therapy.
Her work focuses on neural integration, serving the system to fully process, assimilate and coordinate its array of life experiences, supporting the tissues to functionally and structurally reorganize. This integrational approach to chiropractic care, supported by yoga therapy, assists where pain or injury are involved as well as with healing of constitutional or internal medical issues. Dr. Lalla designs and recommends personalized self‐care activities for clients to practice at home, drawn from over 25 years of background in hatha and kundalini yoga and her ongoing training in adaptive hatha yoga practice and therapy, informed by ayurvedic principles.
A lover of music, vegetarian food, and the great outdoors, Dr. Lalla is thrilled to be Thriving in Portland!
The Care
THRIVE! Chiropractic Yoga Therapy provides a unique service through one doctor. Our goal is to empower individuals and small practice groups to discover more supportive ways of being. We reduce subluxation interference with the chiropractic adjustment, as well as enhance neuromusculoskeletal awareness, function and mobility. Customized, supported yoga sessions build on this enhanced awareness, developing clients’ relationship with breath, refining details of posture and movement, and stilling the mind while opening the heart and the senses.
We begin by listening. We investigate your history of health: physical, chemical and emotional, looking to discover the types of stresses you have lived through and still live with. Our physical exam focuses on the chiropractic analysis of the spine and nervous system, and we also assess how your muscles fire, at rest and with movements key to your specific presentation. We then apply the information gathered, serving your system with a light force chiropractic adjustment, and augment the adjustment by supporting you through a brief series of yogic exercises and resting poses.
Taking note of your unique health goals, we design a care plan tailored to your needs. Sessions in the plan can combine both the chiropractic and the yoga therapy every visit, or each session can be dedicated to one or the other modality. As we implement the plan, we make these choices together based on your health goals, your personal preferences and your body’s responses to care.
